Jessup Principal Message

October 28, 2024

Dear Jessup Parents and Guardians,

As we wrap up a wonderful first quarter, I want to extend my gratitude for your continued support and involvement in our students’ education. We’re off to a great start, and we’re excited to dive into the second quarter with fresh energy and enthusiasm.

I’m pleased to share that Jessup’s 2023-2024 Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) School Performance Report reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff, students, and families. Our school has achieved a performance level of Meeting Expectations based on four key areas: Achievement, Growth, Equity, and English Learner Progress.

Here’s a quick overview of what these indicators mean:

  • Achievement: This measures how well our students performed on the state assessment (WY-TOPP), which helps us see if they are mastering grade level curriculum and Wyoming State Standards for Math and Reading.
  • Growth: This indicator compares each student’s progress on WY-TOPP over time, letting us know if students are continuing to grow academically year after year.
  • Equity: Equity measures the progress of students who scored low in previous assessments, focusing on making sure every child has the chance to succeed.
  • English Learner Progress (ELP): This is an important measure for students learning English and assesses their growth in English language skills over the school year.

Thanks to your dedication and the outstanding commitment of our staff, we are thrilled to report that our school Met Expectations in Growth, Equity, and Achievement. Our overall WAEA Weighted Average Indicator Score is 2.0, which places us solidly in the “Meeting Expectations” category. Our federal ESSA score is 2.3, further reflecting our progress toward our goals for math and reading.

This strong start to the year is a team effort, and we couldn’t achieve it without you. Your involvement is vital to our school’s success, and we are grateful for the difference you make every day. We look forward to working together to ensure our school continues to Meet or Exceed expectations again this year.

Thanks again for your partnership in supporting our students’ learning and growth. Here’s to a fantastic second quarter and another amazing year of student growth!

Cheers,
Barbara Leiseth, PhD
